My name is Madeleine McBride and I live in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone. I began my working life as a Beauty Therapist, with training in aromatherapy and reflexology. This inspired my interest in Hatha Yoga and Wellbeing. I began regular practice of Yoga in 2002, qualifying to teach in 2007 with the Yoga Fellowship of Northern Ireland. I am an associate member of the British Wheel of Yoga, the governing body of Yoga in the UK. I have also studied with internationally recognised teachers Lilias Folan, Mukunda Stiles, Godfrey Devereau and Diane Long & Sophie Hoare in the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli yoga. I continue to grow in my own practice of Yoga by regularly attending workshops led by recognised teachers. In 2013 I was trained in YOGA FOR HEALTHY LOWER BACKS a specialised 12 week yoga programme programme proven to help relieve chronic low back pain, based on four years of research conducted by the University of York and funded by Arthritis Research UK.
I teach and practice Yoga by coming into the body through breath awareness with emphasis on soft, flowing movements, which can help increase energy levels, ease back pain, and release stress. This is achieved mainly by developing awareness of what is happening within our bodies.
‘With awareness, sensitivity,
and sincere devotion
I let the inner wisdom guide me,
I surrender to the healing light
and wisdom within me.’
In 2010/11, I trained in Capacitar Multicultural Wellness Practices, simple practices that can be used to counter the stresses and emotional upheavals of day to day living. These include ancient and modern practices such as Tai chi, Pal Dan Gum, EFT and more, simple yet effective tools and techniques which will empower you to bring harmony and peace to Body, Mind and Spirit. The use of these healing skills can empower us to live with peace and wellbeing, no matter what is happening around us.
